Deleting your account

Delete your FOOH account from Account settings: what is deleted, what is kept, the 30 days to change your mind, and how to cancel.

You can delete your FOOH account yourself, at any time, from Account → Account. It works the same whether you have a creator profile or only an account you made to vote, like or send a brief.

How to delete your account

  1. Go to Account → Account and scroll to Delete account at the bottom.
  2. Read what is deleted and what is kept, then choose Delete account….
  3. Type DELETE, then confirm it's you: enter your password, or sign in with Google once more if that's how you log in. We ask because a deletion from an open browser or a stolen session must not be possible.

What happens straight away

  • Your profile and your work disappear from FOOH for everyone: their pages answer "not found", and they leave the library, search, the talent directory, collections and workflows. Any job or project posts you have live leave the job board too.
  • You're signed out on every device, and AI assistants you connected stop working.
  • We stop writing to you: no reminders, digests, job alerts, challenge mails or announcements, and the newsletter is paused. The only emails you still get are about the deletion itself.
  • Nobody can send you a new message. People you've talked to see that you've left FOOH; your messages stay readable for them.
  • The deletion itself is scheduled for 30 days later.
  • We email you the date, with a Cancel deletion link.

Nothing is erased during those 30 days, so you can still change your mind.

Changing your mind

You can cancel at any time during the 30 days, in either of two ways:

  • From the email. The email we sent when the deletion was scheduled has a Cancel deletion link. It works without signing in, so you can stop the deletion even if you can't get into your account (for example if someone else changed your password). Open it, then confirm with Cancel deletion. The link works until the deletion date and only once; if it says it no longer works, sign in and cancel from there, or write to us.
  • By signing in. You'll see one page: Deletion scheduled for the date, with a Cancel deletion button.

Either way, everything comes back exactly as it was: profile, work, collections, job posts and settings. Emails and messages reach you again too. The newsletter restarts too if you were subscribed when you asked for the deletion. Signing in alone never cancels the deletion; only the button does. After cancelling from the email, sign in again to carry on, because you were signed out when the deletion was scheduled.

Didn't ask for the deletion? Cancel it from the email, then change your password and reply to that email so we can help.

What is deleted

  • Your profile, your work and its videos and images
  • Your collections, workflows, likes and comments
  • Your notification settings and connected AI apps
  • Your invoices and invoice clients. Download them first: open each one in Invoices and download it before you delete your account.
  • Your challenge entries, with their films. On a challenge whose winners are out, a place you won stays empty: nobody moves up into it.
  • Your name, email address, photo, bio, links and location, and your login
  • If we know you as a business contact too (for example from a challenge sponsorship), that contact record is erased as well
  • Enquiries you sent us from the same email address (for example from Work with us or about a screen)
  • Your name, diagnostics and screenshots on bug reports you sent us. The report's text stays with our team, without your name.

What is kept

  • Your side of conversations. Messages you sent stay in the other person's inbox, because they're part of their record too. They show as from a Deleted member, with no name, photo or link.
  • Payment and tax records of paid award entries and paid job posts, for as long as the law requires us to keep them, attached to the anonymous placeholder instead of you. That includes the name, company and email address you gave when paying for an award entry.
  • Award entries. The paid entry stays as a payment record, but its work is deleted. An entry still being judged is withdrawn from the awards, without a refund.
  • Prize payouts. If a challenge prize was paid out on one of your entries, the entry stays as the payout's record, without its film or text; its place on the results is empty all the same.
  • Votes you cast in challenges and the awards keep counting.
  • Job and project posts stay as records but are closed: nobody can find or apply to them.
  • Credits other people gave you on their work stay on their work as plain text.

When the deletion has run

The deletion runs within a day after the 30 days are up. Your account becomes an anonymous Deleted member: everything in "What is deleted" is erased, and your login is deleted, so signing in no longer works. We email you once more, to the address the account had, to confirm your account has been deleted. After that your email address is gone from your account and everywhere else we held it, with one exception: the payment record of a paid award entry keeps the email address you gave when paying, for as long as tax law requires (see "What is kept"). Besides that we keep only a one-way fingerprint of the address on our do-not-contact list, so we never write to it from our sales tools by mistake; it can't be turned back into the address.

Signing up again

Once the deletion has run, your email address is free again: you can sign up with it as a brand-new account. Your old handle (and any handle you used before it) stays reserved for 12 months: your old profile address answers "not found", and nobody can take the handle over, not even you with a new account. After the 12 months we erase it from our records and it is free for anyone again.

If you can't sign in

Write to hello@fooh.com from the address your account uses and ask us to delete it. We can schedule or cancel a deletion for you.
